CT-demonstrated transcalvarial channels diagnostic of dural arteriovenous fistula.

چکیده
MR imaging-evident intraosseous channels associated with the presence of a dural arteriovenous fistula have been described in the literature. We describe these channels in relation to a case of dural arteriovenous fistula seen on CT. The presence of this subtle sign should be sought, and the area reviewed in all CT evaluations of patients with pulsatile tinnitus.

Spinal dural arteriovenous fistula : a case report
Background: Spinal dural AVF is the most common type of spinal vascular malformation. However, presenting symptoms differ according to site of spinal involvement. This study described a case of arteriovenous malformation with paraparesis and incontinence. Case Presentation: Diagnosis of patient was confirmed by clinical and imaging examination using magnetic resonance image and ruling out ot...
متن کاملCT angiography as a screening tool for dural arteriovenous fistula in patients with pulsatile tinnitus: feasibility and test characteristics.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The diagnosis of intracranial DAVF with noninvasive cross-sectional imaging such as CTA is challenging. We sought to determine the sensitivity and specificity of CTA compared with cerebral angiography for DAVF in patients presenting with PT. MATERIALS AND METHODS Following approval of the institutional review board, we reviewed all patients who underwent CTA for PT from...
متن کاملClinical Outcomes of Patients with Delayed Diagnosis of Spinal Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas are commonly missed on imaging or misdiagnosed as inflammatory or neoplastic processes. We reviewed a consecutive series of spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas referred to our institution that were missed or misdiagnosed on initial imaging and studied the clinical consequences of missing or misdiagnosing the lesion. MATERIALS AND METH...
متن کاملCranial dural arteriovenous fistula as a rare cause of tinnitus – case report
BACKGROUND Tinnitus, occurring at least once in a lifetime in about 10-20% of the population, is an important clinical problem with complex etiology. Rare causes of tinnitus include cranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs), which are usually small lesions consisting of abnormal connections between branches of dural arteries and venous sinuses or veins. CASE REPORT Authors present a case o...
متن کاملSubcortical calcification on CT in dural arteriovenous fistula with cortical venous reflux.
We report 3 cases of dural arteriovenous fistula (dAVF) with cortical venous reflux (CVR) presenting calcification in the cortico-medullary junction at the bottom of cerebral sulci on unenhanced CT. This likely results from chronic venous congestion with resulting impaired perfusion of the involved parenchyma. dAVF with CVR, which is known to have poor prognosis without treatment, should be inc...
